Tips to survive a long weekend away

One of the hardest parts about losing weight is what to do when you are out of your routine. I don’t know about you but when my rountine goes out the window, so does my ability to eat healthy. So how do we survive those time away. First, I think it does help to have some realistic expectations of yourself for those times. Because in most cases, no matter what your eating won’t be perfect, and that is okay!!

But I thought I would share the following tips on how I control my behavior and hopefully some of them will work for you:

1. Carry a bottle of water with you (keep some in a cooler in the car)

2. pack your own snacks or lunch for the car drive, I do mean healthly snacks

3. if you are eating out ask questions about the meals (never assume that any meal is healthy even if it sounds like it)

4. eat breakfast

5. don’t stress about it, things happen, if one meal is bad, just start back at the next meal don’t let it go on the whole weekend.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!!

Just changed my photo… it makes me feel great

Hello everyone!

I just changed my profile photo, and I love it.  I swear tht by taking pictures throughout this process has helped me stay focus and really showed my the difference the weight lost has done for me. I would definitely recommend everyone keep a photo journal of their progress. Now I know a lot of people don’t like to take pictures of themselves, but think of it as a great starting point, not the end result. For me, it great to look and see how far I have come and to look back and know I don’t want to ever to return there again. It definitely is an ego boost as well.  Soon I’ll put up a new full body shot too.

Just thought I would share, I hope everyone’s week is going well. Remember you can do it!!!

Late weigh in — no internet this weekend…ugh!!!!

I can’t believe my internet was down this weekend. Okay, it was just my wireless connection, but I felt like I had withdrawl symptons. I really wanted to see how everyone else did on their weigh-ins, and be inspired and all the rest.  Plus, I was so ready to post my weigh in on Saturday. I’m down 2lbs this week and only 1 lb away from my mini-goal of a total of 50lbs lost.  I’m so psyched to make it this week.  It’s so close and I’m going to push for it really hard this week..

So it’s time to recommit to moving  forward on this road, my goals for this week are:

1. 5 spinning classes

2. more water, just pretend I’m floating away

3. walk a total of 15 miles this week.

4.  double check portion sizes

5. get ready to have fun on the last weekend of summer

6. make mini-goal!!!

Have a great monday and rest of the week.

Another day gone

So it’s Wednesay, and I think I have caught a cold. Isn’t too early in the season for that kind of nonsense? All I know is that I want to go to bed and sleep. Which I might do right now. On the up note, it seems that my appetite has vanished as well. Though I still have 2 more spinning classes to complete this week to make my goals. I’ll see how I feel in the morning.

Speaking of my goals, I’m having a problem with increasing my water intake. I haven’t had this problem before. It just seems like I’m not that interested in drinking anything. I’m trying to find a way to trick myself into drinking more. It seems a bit silly, but even right now I’m sitting here typing and I have a bottle of water in front of me ready to drink, yet it’s been sitting there for most of the day. Maybe I try putting a note on it saying “drink me please!”  It could work.

I hope everyone out there is having a good wednesday. keep up the good work!

recommmit…keep it moving

I was thinking this morning how to keep myself moving whether physically or mentally. Usually, I do so by creating some kinda of challenge to meet. It usually gives me a boost and keeps my head in the game. (don’t you love sport’s metaphors).  Yet at the moment, I seem to lacking some sort of challenge. I need something new to keep myself going. Does anyone have any suggestions? It might sound gimmicky but hey, it works for me.

Oh, I forgot to tell you about the baby shower I went to on Saturday. I saw people who haven’t seen me in about 6 months. YES!, I got some great compliments and lots of questions. Of course, I mentioned my blogging here at buddyslim and all the support I get from my buddies here. (Thank you)  I think some might actually look into it, I hope so. It really made me feel great and that sometime you can’t see your progress as well as others can. Everyone was really positive and wished me luck.

My goals for this week are:

1. 5 spinning classes

2. water, fiber, water, and fiber

3. walk 2 miles a day

4. find a new challenge

5. watch my portion sizes

 Here’s a great qoute I found:

To be nobody but yourself –
in a world which is doing its best,
night and day, to make you like
everybody else — means to fight the
hardest battle which any human being
can fight, and never stop fighting.
e. e. cummings

Have a great week everyone and stay motivated!

good ole Saturday weigh in for me

Good morning everyone!!! I’m down 1lb for this week. I was hoping for more, but then again aren’t we all. I just have to keep reminding myself that slow and steady wins the race, or at least that is what I’m telling myself.  I’m in need of some inspiration, if anyone has any please send it my way. It helps me more forward.

Maybe I should blow up a before picture to see how far I have actually come, and I’ll put up a new photo of me here.  It’s hard to notice differences when you look at yourself in the mirror everyday.

Actually, I’m going to a baby shower today with people I haven’t seen in about six months. I know it’s a bit sad to say, but I hope to get notice today.  I mean for goodness sake I’m almost 50lbs lighter.  I will have to tell you about it tomorrow.

 Have a great Saturday!

Since I missed yesterday, my goals for the rest of the week

I can’t believe I forgot to blog yesterday. Of course, I took a little spill while walking the dog, jeez my leg lookslike I got attack by a cat. Thank God for neosporin with pain relief. Anyway, you might think one day is not much to miss but I have been missing them a lot lately and I don’t like the way that road looks.  It usually turns me back toward weight gain and not lost. So I need to keep focus and motivate myself to keep accountable. So I’m going to give myself a kick in the butt, not literally because I’m not that flexible, not yet anyway.

So to stay motived my goals for rest of the week are:

1. 3 spinning classes (not counting monday’s class)

2. continue to journal my food

3. More water

4. Walk 2 miles a day with puppy.

5.  Keep myself accountable here on buddyslim.

down 2lbs this week

Well technically, I’m down one pound, because I gained one last week, but I’ll go with 2 and make myself feel better. I really worked hard for those 2lbs. I ended up doing 6 spinning classes this week, plus walking 2 miles a day.  I’m actually kinda of disappointed I only lost 2.  Who know’s maybe it will show up in next week’s weigh in.

I’m going to continue to push hard this week as well. I did do better at keeping track of what I ate, but I could do better. I’m going to put forth that effort this upcoming week.

Have a great Saturday!! I’m heading outside.

Made myself get up early today to go to the gym

Yes, I made myself get up early 4:45am, to make a 5:30 spinning class. It was still extra early, because I had to take out the puppy before I could leave the house. Oh, the joys of owning a pet.  Anyway, it has been awhile since, I was able to drag myself out to the gym that early.  There are a few differences to working out that early. One, my body wasn’t able to get up to speed as quickly. it was probably wondering what the heck I was doing out of bed. Of course, it also could be the fact I went to a spinning class last night, but I’ll go with the former. Two, one of the great benefits, is that I’m much more awake the rest of the day without the aid of any caffeine. And lastly, I don’t have to worry about finding time at night to go to the gym, which actually is awesome.

I’m really hoping that changing up my workout times, might really benefit me. Not to say I will be getting up that early everyday, just a few times a week, looks Tuesday and Thursday will be the day.. Afterall, I need all the beauty sleep I can get.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday and get moving.

Beginning of a new week …. Let’s start it right

Hello everyone!  I hope you are having a good Monday, although it kinda sounds like an oxymoran.  So I feeling a bit more on track since my little wake up call of my gain for the week. I went to my spinning class yesterday and plan to go tonight as well. I did well yesterday with my diet too, increased my veggies and fruit intake. I determined to lose this week.

My goals for the week are:

1. four spinning classes, with 2 miles walks each day.

2. Increase water intake

3. really watch my portion sizes

4. journal everything I put in my mouth

5. blog everyday
